“[The] conviction of former President Donald Trump was a watershed moment in U.S. history.
It was also an event that has potentially awakened a sleeping giant and mobilized an untold number of Americans in support of Trump, as evidenced by a record-breaking fundraising haul taken in the hours after the verdict […].
Following the verdict, the Trump campaign brought in a “record shattering” small donor tally of $34.8 million, according to a statement emailed by campaign senior advisors Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles, who say the figure nearly doubles its single-day fundraising record.
Within minutes of the verdict being announced, the digital fundraising system WinRed crashed after being flooded with an overwhelming amount of traffic.
“Not only was the amount historic, but 29.7% of [the] donors were brand new donors to the WinRed platform,” the campaign said.

On the day of the verdict, a new Emerson College Polling/The Hill/PIX11 survey of NY voters was released showing Joe Biden with [only] a 7-point lead over Trump.
In 2020, Biden carried New York by a margin of 60.9% to 37.7%.
“Independent voters in New York who traditionally vote [Democrat], according to exit polling, have flipped to lean toward Trump by a margin of TEN points, 43% to 33%,” said Spencer Kimball, exec. director of Emerson College Polling.”
