Biden also made several false statements throughout the debate, claiming he was the “only president of the 20th century” to not lose American troops. During 2021’s withdrawal from the Afghanistan war, the Biden administration oversaw the death of 13 soldiers after a suicide bomber carried out an attack during the mission.

Biden also referenced a debunked claim that Trump praised white nationalists during the 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, VA which left one woman dead.
During a press conference following the event, Trump noted there were “very fine” people on both sides of the demonstration, though noted he was not referring to neo-Nazis or white nationalists present.
