Who Will Be The Next AG Of The United States?

Mike Davis, who has been described in mainstream media outlets as an “AG hopeful”, had this to say about who he would like to see become Attorney General:

His hope, contrary to fake news claims, is that Mark Paoletta become the next AG. According to wikipedia, a source of questionable reliability, “From January 8, 2018, to January 20, 2021, Paoletta served as general counsel of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). Prior to this, Paoletta served as chief counsel and assistant to Vice President Mike Pence from January 20, 2017, to January 5, 2018.” I find his ties to Bush Sr, and his role and proximity to Mike Pence, to be troubling.

However, he has a history working in the Trump orbit, and seems to have deep ties to many of the best within the America 1st movement.

Also worth noting, in his time with the Bush admin he “…played a key role in the confirmation of Justice Clarence Thomas.  Mark has written extensively on Justice Thomas’ confirmation and jurisprudence, and he created [2 sites] to honor and defend our nation’s greatest jurist.

I’m no fan of any Bush, but Justice Thomas is one of the best and most iconic defenders of constitutional law in the current landscape, and has been subjected to endless attacks of all manner from the left ever since his confirmation hearings.

He, and those allied with him, are familiar with the vicious nature of our opposition, so maybe he would be a good pick. I would point out, though… “Mark also served for a decade as Chief Counsel for Oversight & Investigations for the House Energy & Commerce Committee, managing nearly 200 investigative hearings.  He investigated waste, fraud, and abuse in the Clinton and Bush 43 Administrations, and he also conducted vigorous oversight of corporate America, investigating Enron, Worldcom, Global Crossing, HealthSouth, and many other big corporations.” Meaning, he served in that role, and yet the we are still drowning in DC corruption.

So was he effective? I don’t know.

I have to dig into more of his history, and encourage you to do the same.

Worth considering, are his publicized opinions.

From what I’ve looked through so far, nominating him to a position within the new Trump admin would likely bode well for Agenda 47, as would his insights on the proper exercise of presidential powers.

I have no special access or insight, just a willingness to do the research and digging it takes to get a handle on the buzz, and to discern between signal, and noise. That as the basis, I have seen names like Ken Paxton and Andrew Bailey floated by Trump supporters of all kinds.

Mike Lee has also been mentioned.

His time serving as legal counsel for Dick Cheney gives me pause, and has me wondering if other names shouldn’t be higher up on the list of contenders. Still, via Politico, he has “[…] argued […] there’s no legal requirement for any president to stay out of Justice Department decisions. He has the duty to supervise DOJ, including, if necessary, on specific cases,” and has said “our system does not permit an unaccountable agency. As Chief Justice Roberts held in U.S. v. Trump, ‘the constitution vests the entirety of the executive power in the POTUS.’”

Paoletta is said to be helping Trump’s transition team plan DOJ policies; if true, it would seem he is already back in the Trump orbit, and may well be considered for a position in the coming administration – but whether he is being looked at to serve as Attorney General, or some other position, or none at all is – as of this moment – anyone’s guess. All I know is I see folks like Mike Davis pushing for him, and he’s likely to have a lot more insight (and sway) than someone like ‘lil ole me.

Who would you like to see nominated and confirmed as the next Attorney General of the U.S.?
