I’ve also heard anecdotally that in counties using both sides of the ballot rather than just having everything on the front with the back left intentionally blank, the thin paper is causing bleed through issues. That matters because if the bleed through causes the machines to misread the votes, they’ll be sent to poll workers for “adjudication” (i.e. they decide what your intent was, and you have to trust they aren’t just giving the vote to their preferred candidate, no safeguards in place, no accountability).
