“[…] Matt Gaetz (R-FL) is calling on Ed Bastion, CEO of Delta Air Lines, to appear before Congress […] to answer questions regarding his company’s involvement with the transportation of illegal immigrants from the U.S. border into the interior of the country.

“The United States Congress has an interest in understanding pursuant to which arrangements with federal agencies and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) non-resident aliens are able to book and travel on Delta Air Lines flights,” Gaetz wrote.

The FL lawmaker expressed concerns over to what degree the illegal immigrants had been vetted and screened on both national security and public health grounds. Specifically, Gaetz is asking Bastion to provide […] the number of illegal immigrants the airline has “transported on behalf of the government or non-governmental organizations since January 20, 2021” as well as if Delta has received any benefits, funding, or credit from the federal gov. in exchange for providing transport for illegal immigrants.

Additionally, he pressed Bastion as to details regarding the process for which NGOs purchase transportation for illegal immigrants using Delta flights and if the TSA has dictated […] what sorts of identification are necessary for [illegals] to clear airport security.

“I’m concerned the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) may be allowing non-resident aliens to board flights, including those operated by Delta Air Lines, with an alternative form of identification that meets a weaker standard than that used to verify the identities of American citizens when they fly,” Gaetz wrote.

U.S. airline passengers have reported seeing lines of illegal immigrants at airports in the [southwest], many of whom appear to be boarding flights – ostensibly paid for by the Biden regime – to other U.S. cities despite lacking identification docs.”

DeSantis PURGES The FL Department Of Law Enforcement In Bid To Conceal Travel Records

“Aides to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis have led a purge of the state’s top law enforcement agency after pushback over an attempt to block a lawsuit seeking the release of records related to the Governor’s taxpayer-funded travel and security detail.

Officials with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) clashed with the Governor’s office, arguing there were legal grounds to hand over at least some of the records.

The Governor’s staff, known for having little toleration for disagreement, responded by removing […] dissenters.

At the heart of the dispute between Governor DeSantis‘s office and the FDLE is a new Florida law which shields the governor’s travel records from the public, including the media.

The law was part of a package of bills passed by the Florida legislature this past spring, which DeSantis used to increase his power while shielding himself from public scrutiny.

Top staff at the FDLE argued the disclosure law did not prevent them from handing over basic cost records in compliance with public requests. Aides for DeSantis responded to the FDLE’s position by blocking the promotion of at least one dissenting attorney in the agency, [and] pushing out the FDLE’s deputy chief of staff Patricia Carpenter and chief of staff Shane Desguin.

Despite the Governor’s position arguing the law essentially shields almost all details about his travel and security detail from the public, the Republican sponsor of the statute says this was not his intent. State Rep. Jeff Holcomb says the law was simply intended to prevent individuals from constructing a ‘security profile’ of […] using sensitive travel and security information.

Preventing the public from obtaining basic information such as the taxpayer cost […] was not the end goal […].”

“Congenital syphilis, Varicella, and Tuberculosis Have Made a Resurgence in the U.S.

Public health officials are issuing new warnings about diseases and are specifically tying a recent rise in infections to the crisis at the U.S. southern border.

The Chicago Department of Public Health recently published a bulletin warning of an increase in chickenpox. “Most cases have been in people newly arrived from the U.S. southern border living in shelters,” officials advise.

“Most reported cases have been in people who recently arrived from the U.S. Southern Border and are currently living in shelters, and many have been in school-aged children,” according to the public health notice.

Migrants at a crowded Chicago shelter in a converted warehouse say diseases are spreading rapidly because of overcrowding, unsanitary conditions, […] lack of healthcare providers on-site.

On Dec. 18, four children were rushed to local hospitals after exhibiting symptoms including fever and vomiting.

Illinois public health officials also recently launched a phone line to provide consulting due to “an almost tripling in the number of congenital syphilis” diagnoses.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), between 2021 and 2022, there has been a 31.7 percent increase in the number of congenital syphilis cases, with a 17.2 percent increase in the number of primary and secondary syphilis cases among females aged 14-44.

“More than 10 times as many congenital syphilis cases were reported in 2022 than in 2012,” the CDC says.
